Piggott Student Wins HPMEC Art Exhibition
PIGGOTT — Caleb Riddle, a senior at Piggott High School, is the winner of the 15th annual Hemingway-Pfeiffer Student Art Exhibition. Winners were announced Feb. 4 at a reception at the Piggott City Market. Riddle’s winning piece is called Blue Man Staring.
Second place was Preparation by Bianca Thomas of Puxico (Mo.) High School. Third place was Radical Bruh by Jessie Martin of Bay High School. A number of honorable mentions were also awarded.
The annual juried art competition invites students within a 50-mile radius of Piggott to submit art for exhibition at the museum. This year, works were submitted by 11 school districts in Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri. The Matilda and Karl Pfeiffer Museum and Study Center of Piggott provided prizes for the competition.
Student art was exhibited at Piggott City Market from Jan. 31 through Feb. 3, with a reception for artists and awards ceremony on Feb. 4.
The Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center (HPMEC) is an Arkansas State University Heritage Site located at 1021 W. Cherry Street, Piggott, Ark. Tours are on the hour Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday 1-3 p.m.
