Predatory Journals is Keynote Topic at Ellis Library Conference
JONESBORO – "Predatory Journals: The Worst Thing in Publishing, Ever" will be Jeffrey Beall’s keynote address at the upcoming Delta Serials Conference at Arkansas State University.
Beall is a librarian at Auraria Library at the University of Colorado-Denver. An academic librarian for more than 25 years, he has published extensively in the areas of metadata, full-text searching and information retrieval.
His interest in scholarly open-access publishing began in 2009 when he reviewed the publisher Bentham Open in The Charleston Advisor, a journal that reviews electronic resources.
The Delta Serials Conference, which will be in the Carl R. Reng Student Union meeting area on the third floor, is hosted by the Dean B. Ellis Library at A-State, according to Linda Creibaum, acquisitions and serials librarian.
The conference will focus on advances, developments and continuing issues in the management and use of all serial library products, Creibaum added.
Tickets are available for the 9 a.m. Friday, July 28, keynote only or the full two-day conference, Thursday and Friday, July 27‑28. Reduced prices are available for A-State faculty, staff, or students.
