Remote Work and Instruction Plan Will Continue through Friday
JONESBORO – With lingering ice on many campus sidewalks and parking lots, Arkansas State University will continue with remote instruction for Friday, Feb. 12.
All essential personnel for inclement operations will continue to report as usual.
Along with working to clear areas around campus housing and the Reng Student Union, Facilities Maintenance crews have focused on FNB Arena to clear surfaces.
Most on-campus events are postponed, cancelled or virtual on Friday with two exceptions:
-- A second-dose COVID-19 vaccination clinic for employees who received their Pfizer first dose in January will be held at First National Bank Arena starting at 9 a.m. at the yellow entrance. Employees will have already received their appointment times, and are reminded to bring their vaccination cards. Please plan for sufficient travel time to arrive for your appointment.
-- The Sun Belt Conference doubleheader basketball game with UALR postponed from Wednesday will also be held Friday evening at FNB Arena. Women’s game will tip at 5 p.m. and the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.
While remote learning continues, all academic buildings and office buildings are closed Friday due to the accumulation of sleet and frozen rain.
All on-campus classes remain in remote course delivery for Friday. Instructors are asked to reach out to their students as soon as practical to let them know how the learning material will be delivered.
Non-essential staff members are encouraged to continue telework on Friday.
Essential services for students living on campus remain operational, with Dining Services utilizing brunch hours at Acansa Dining Hall.
Campus residents are reminded to be extra careful as they are walking on campus over the next two days. Accumulated ice is unlike snow, and while Facilities Maintenance crews are working diligently to remove the winter precipitation, until temperatures rise expect ice and sleet to remain on some surfaces.
