Roberson Endows Scholarship for ASMSA Grads at A-State
JONESBORO – In an effort to benefit graduates of the prestigious Arkansas school for Mathematics Sciences and the Arts (ASMSA) in Hot Springs who are attending Arkansas State University, a fully-funded scholarship has been established by Sara Roberson in memory of her late husband Dr. George V. Roberson.
The George and Sara Roberson Scholarship has been established to help ASMSA graduates, who are among the best and brightest in the state, to thrive and achieve at A-State. Dr. Roberson graduated from A-State and went on to the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, graduating first in his medical school class. He always attributed his excellent education at Arkansas State to his success.
He served on the Arkansas State University’s Chancellor’s Cabinet and Mrs. Roberson continues to fulfill her husband’s interest in Arkansas State by also serving on the cabinet along with Dr. Roberson’s son Scott Roberson who is an A-State graduate.
Another of Dr. Roberson’s sons, Matt Roberson, also graduated from Arkansas State. Today, a third generation, Drew Roberson, Dr. Roberson’s grandson, is an A-State student and maintains an active leadership role on campus. Mrs. Roberson resides in Hot Springs.
The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts is an investment by the General Assembly in many of the state’s most talented and promising young minds. Each year, students from counties across Arkansas come to ASMSA to live and learn within a community of 230 intellectual peers. The residential experience combines college-level coursework, dynamic faculty, advanced research opportunities, study abroad trips, and more to an experience unlike any other in Arkansas.
