Short Story Reading Retreat Set For Hemingway-Pfeiffer Center In April

PIGGOTT – The Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center (HPMEC) in Piggott has announced dates for its upcoming event, the American Short Story Reading Retreat. Dr. Adam Long, director of the center, said the retreat is Friday and Saturday, April 1-2, at the center.

Upon registration, participants will receive copies of three collections of short stories, including Ernest Hemingway’s In Our Times. The three collections will focus on the impact and development of this enduring art form. Participants will then come together April 1-2 at the museum in Piggott for a weekend of meaningful discussion and fun activities.
During the retreat, experts in the field will lead discussion about the books. In addition, there is a film screening, as well as a cocktail party, in the Pfeiffer-Janes house. Participants are invited to come to the party dressed as their favorite figure from American fiction.
The cost of the retreat is $100, which includes copies of the three books, meals throughout the weekend, and a ticket to the party. Tickets for the party alone cost $35. HPMEC is an Arkansas State University Heritage Site located at 1021 W. Cherry Street, Piggott. Tours are on the hour Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday 1-3 p.m.
