Statement from A-State Chancellor Tim Hudson
News Conference Statement from Chancellor Tim Hudson:
First I want to say there is no continuing danger from today's incident. The Arkansas State community remains strong and we're safe, thanks in large part to the quick action and cooperation of our law enforcement officers and safety personnel from the campus, the city, the region and the state.
We are grateful for their courage and for their professionalism. They handled this situation superbly and achieved the absolute best possible outcome. I want to thank our students, faculty and staff for following all lockdown and safety protocols.
Our alert system worked. At A-State we train with purpose and today it paid dividends. I am proud of everyone and grateful that no one was injured. I want to let members of our university community know that our Counseling Center is available for students, faculty and staff.
Final exams, which were cancelled this afternoon, have been postponed until Wednesday. We will be open for business as usual tomorrow, and commencement ceremonies scheduled for Saturday will proceed. The safety of our university community is our foremost priority. Once again, I am grateful for the rapid response of all of our public safety officials and personnel and the actions of our faculty, staff and students.
