Student Activities Board and Dept. of Athletics to host Pride Day, Thursday
JONESBORO -- The Student Activities Board (SAB), in partnership with the Department of Athletics, will host its annual A-State Pride Day on Thursday, Jan. 29.
"A-State Pride Day is a great way to unite our student body by supporting our basketball teams and to award deserving individuals and groups who display Pack Pride," commented Mallory Floyd of Marion, a senior criminology and sociology major and co-Spirit Club director on the Student Activities Board.
Daytime activities, which will include prize wheel giveaways, award presentations, and an award ceremony, are scheduled from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on the first floor of the Carl R. Reng Student Union.
Students had an opportunity to nominate students, faculty, staff, families, and organizations for the three annual recognition awards: the Scarlet Bella Award, the Howler Award, and the Alpha Wolf Award.
SAB also is holding an office decorating contest for faculty and staff to help celebrate the annual Pride Day. Judging will begin at 10 a.m. on Jan. 29.
Winners of the three awards, along with winners of the decorating contest, will be announced at 12:15 p.m. during the A-State Pride Day award reception in the Reng Student Union, first floor.
"A-State Pride Day is one of my favorite events during the spring semester," said Nathan Nelson of Paron, a junior sport management major and co-Spirit Club director. "One of the big things we do on A-State Pride Day is the prize wheel, which gets so many students excited. We also have a mini pep rally to get everyone pumped up for the games as both the Lady Red Wolves and the Red Wolves take on in-state rival UALR."
Students will be tweeting using the hashtag #packprideday15. For more details about A-State Pride Day, contact the Leadership Center at (870) 972-2055.
