Student Research Showcased at 2018 Create@State Symposium
JONESBORO – More than 270 Arkansas State University undergraduate and graduate students presented oral, poster and creative presentations during the eighth annual “Create@State: A Symposium of Research, Scholarship and Creativity,” during Convocation of Scholars.
The three-day event drew a record number of entrants, and was held at Fowler Center and the Reng Student Union on the A-State campus. The 2018 theme focused around the STEAM initiative, highlighting the integration of art and design with science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
Student work was showcased in six categories: Agriculture, Engineering & Technology, Business, Education & Behavioral Science, Liberal Arts & Communication, Nursing & Health Professions, and Sciences & Mathematics. Students offered oral, poster and creative presentations throughout the symposium. Judges for the presentations included leaders from local business, industry, foundations and A-State alumni.
Create@State 2018 was a collaborative effort of A-State’s Research and Technology Transfer office (RTT) and University Advancement. Members of the A-State Student Research Advisory Committee, made up of appointed faculty representatives from each college, along with the A-State Student Research Council’s research ambassadors and the A-State Student Philanthropy Council have been involved in organizing the symposium, which this year expanded to three days for the first time.
