09/06/2015

Order of the Pack PosterJONESBORO – Arkansas State University students will conduct their 19th annual “Order of the Pack” Thursday, Sept. 10, welcoming a new class into the Red Wolves family.

Sponsors of Order of the Pack, the Student Activities Board and the Student Government Association, work together to emphasize the traditions of Red Wolf athletics and Pack Pride.

"I am thrilled about this year’s Order of the Pack!" said Haley Stotts of Little Rock.  "As co-director of the Student Activities Board Spirit Club, it has been my duty and privilege to get students, alums, and the community of Jonesboro hyped about this event. I hope to see fellow Red Wolves fans pack out the new-and-improved Centennial Bank Stadium as we prepare for a great season under our second year head coach, Blake Anderson. It’s going to be one HOWL of a time!"

Order of the Pack starts at 7:30 p.m. in Centennial Bank Stadium.  The public is welcome.

The Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) Color Guard will post the colors, the University Choir will sing the national anthem, and the Sound of the Natural State marching band will play the Alma Mater and pre-game music.

Logan Mustain of Benton, president of the Student Government Association, will welcome the crowd.

"I’m looking forward to this year’s Order of the Pack more so than any other year because of all of the excitement surrounding athletics," Mustain said. "It's a great opportunity to get together with all of the region's biggest Red Wolves fans.  With the hype for A-State vs. Mizzou building, I'm eager to see how many show up and show out."

The program includes Dr. Tim Hudson, chancellor, and his wife, Dr. Dee Dee Hudson; Dr. Rick Stripling, vice chancellor for Student Affairs; the Red Wolf Dancers; and the A-State Cheerleaders.

Matt Stoltz, voice of the EAB Red Wolf Sports Network, will emcee the last portion of the program, which features head coaches and Red Wolves athletic teams.  Terry Mohajir, director of athletics, and Blake Anderson, head football coach, will address the crowd.

"Order of the Pack is an important event for freshmen. Here, they learn our chants, our game day rituals, and so much more," said Katherine Dickerson of Roanoke, Va., Student Activities Board co-Spirit Club director.  This is not only important to freshmen, but for the upperclassmen and the community as well.  This year's Order of the Pack is even more important with the unveiling of the Student Activity Center and the newly renovated west side of the stadium. I'm beyond excited to cheer on the Red Wolves and get this season started off with a bang."

Student groups will compete for the Alumni Spirit Stick, to be presented by Beth Smith, executive director of the Alumni Association.  Students with a valid A-State ID will receive a complimentary spirit item.

Another program highlight will be the promotional video for Homecoming, the week of Sept. 28-Oct. 3.
