Students to Present Scholarly and Creative Works during ‘Create @ STATE’ Program, Tuesday, April 7
JONESBORO – Arkansas State University’s office of Research and Technology Transfer (RTT) invites the public to the fifth annual student research event, “Create @ STATE: A Symposium of Research, Scholarship and Creativity.” Create @ STATE will be held Tuesday, April 7, in the Carl R. Reng Student Union.
Create @ STATE offers students the opportunity to present and share their research, scholarship or creative work in a professional and supportive setting. This program also acts as a platform for students, faculty and staff across campus to learn more about the variety of research, creative and scholarly projects occurring at A-State.
Members of the Student Research Council executive committee who have been involved in planning the event are Christopher Elms, Santiago Gonzalez, Jacob Steele, Molly Tibbs, Morgan Tripod, Christopher Aaron Tollett and Rachel Welicky. In addition, each college has a representative on the faculty advisory committee.
“We are delighted each year to see how our students take the knowledge gained in our classrooms and apply it to generate insightful new knowledge about the world around them," commented Dr. Andrew Sustich, vice provost for research and graduate studies. "This application of classroom learning to innovative research and creative expression is at the heart of what our university represents.”
Approximately 200 undergraduate and graduate students will offer oral, poster and creative presentations, representing a multitude of disciplines.
The event gets underway at 9 a.m. with oral presentation sessions of papers and research findings. Panel and poster presentations are scheduled at 11 a.m., and oral presentations continue at 2:30 p.m.
Author Wayne Breitbarth, keynote speaker for a 12:30 p.m. luncheon for students, will give advice on career advancement through the use of LinkedIn and other professional social networks.
The awards ceremony will start at 5 p.m. in the Student Union auditorium.
