03/22/2018

JONESBORO – The university community extends sympathy to the family, colleagues and friends of Dr. Charlott Jones, who died early this morning in Jonesboro.

Jones served on the A-State faculty for 27 years, from 1972 until her retirement in 1999, at which time she was named emeritus associate professor of art education and director of ASU Museum.

For many years she divided her time between teaching art and directing the Museum.  She was appointed full-time director in 1990.

She was a vigilant advocate for the Museum's educational mission, especially through programs and activities for children.

In 2011, she was recognized at the 25th anniversary of one of her legacy projects, the annual "Through a Child's Eyes" art exhibition for the area's young artists.

The Museum will dedicate this year's awards ceremony on Sunday, April 8, in celebration of Jones' life.

Rosary will be Monday, March 26, at 4 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be Monday, March 26, from 5-7 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral will be Tuesday, March 27, at 10 a.m. at the Catholic Newman Center, 2800 E Johnson.
