Theatre Announces Cast and Crew for October Production of ‘Dracula’
JONESBORO – The Arkansas State University Theatre has announced the cast and crew for “Dracula” by Steven Dietz.
This new adaptation restores the suspense and seduction of Bram Stoker’s classic novel to the stage, according to an ASU Theatre spokesman. Rich with both humor and horror, this play paints a wickedly theatrical picture of Stoker’s famous vampire.
“Dracula” will open at Fowler Center on Friday, Oct. 4, at 7:30 p.m. A “meet the company” dessert reception will follow the opening night performance.
The second presentation of “Dracula” will be at 12 midnight Saturday, Oct. 5. Additional performances will be Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 7-9, at 7:30 p.m. each night.
The ASU Theatre’s production of “Dracula” is under the stage direction of Tim Bohn, assistant professor of theatre. Scenic design will be by Jeff McLaughlin, assistant professor of theatre, and lighting design by Evan Palumbo, a senior theatre major from Salem.
Matt Currie, a senior theatre major from Cabot, will serve as costume designer. Cody Campbell, a junior theatre major from Jonesboro, and Jacob George, a sophomore theatre major from El Dorado, will serve as sound designers. Jeremy Smith, a sophomore theatre major from Dumas, will serve as prop master.
Molly Dobbs from Jonesboro has been appointed light board operator, Mickey Yones from Rudy will serve as the master electrician, Marie Bonds from Jonesboro is serving as wardrobe head, Destiny Barbine from Jonesboro and Morgan Carvell from Bentonville will serve as the wardrobe crew, Rachel Palumbo from Salem and Payton Overturf from Ward have been appointed to the blood crew, Dru Ergle from Jonesboro and Ashley Pratt from El Dorado are serving as the makeup crew and Vanessa Williams from North Little Rock and Kaito Sano from Yamanashi, Japan, will serve as the backstage crew.
Emily Tucker and Brooke Thomas, both of Jonesboro, will serve as assistant stage managers. Stage management duties for the production have been assigned to Virginia Hirsch, a sophomore theatre major from Jonesboro.
The cast includes Jordan Phillips, a senior theatre major from El Dorado, as Renfield; Heidi Sohl, a freshman theatre major from Benton, as Mina; Sarah Ring, a junior theatre major from Cabot, as Lucy; Clint Stevens, a junior theatre major from Huntsville, as Harker; Garrett Lenzen, a sophomore theatre major from Morrilton, as Seward; Justin Almager, a freshman theatre major from El Dorado, as Dracula; Luke Guntharp, a sophomore theatre major from Jonesboro, as Van Helsing; Jaelyn Epps, a sophomore theatre major from Little Rock, as Vixen; Alaina Rene Kizer, a sophomore theatre major from Conway, as Vixen; Becky Adams, a freshman theatre major from Morrilton, as Vixen; Jake Mizell, a senior from Keller, Texas, as Attendant; Tyler Gillespie, a freshman from Dumas, as Attendant; and Betsy Hegger, a sophomore theatre major from Jonesboro, as the Maid.
Tickets may be purchased for reserved seating in advance at the ASU Central Box Office in the Convocation Center or by calling 972-ASU1. Tickets are also available online at tickets.astate.edu. Reserved seat tickets (if available) may be purchased at the door on the evening of the performance. Tickets are $10, or $8 if purchased in advance.
Due to the popularity of the presentation, advanced reservations are highly recommended.
Children under six years old are not admitted to the ASU Theatre. Patrons are asked to please arrive early; latecomers will not be seated until intermission.
ASU Theatre cautions guests that the play contains extreme violence and adult subject matter.
