Theatre Announces Cast, Crew for 'Deathtrap' Production
JONESBORO – Arkansas State University Theatre is announcing the cast and crew for the November production of "Deathtrap," by Ira Levin.
Deathtrap will be performed at Fowler Center Friday and Saturday, Nov. 14-15, and Monday through Wednesday, Nov. 17-19, at 7:30 p.m. A “meet the company” dessert reception will follow the Nov. 14 opening night performance.
Reviewers have called this play, which was highly successful on Broadway, "ingeniously constructed" because of Levin's skillful combination of "gasp-inducing thrills" and spontaneous laughter.
The cast includes Clint Stevens, a senior theatre major from Huntsville, as Sidney Bruhl; Heidi Sohl, a sophomore theatre major from Benton, as Myra Bruhl; Jason Despain, a senior radio/television major from Jonesboro, as Clifford Anderson; Brooke Thomas, a junior theatre major from Jonesboro, as Helga Ten Dorp; and Jaelyn Epps, a senior theatre major from Little Rock, as Porter Milgrim.
A-State Theatre’s production of "Deathtrap" is under the stage direction of Molly Simpson, professor of theatre. Scenic/technical design will be by Jeff McLaughlin, assistant professor of theatre, and sound design by Ashley Pratt, a junior theatre major from El Dorado.
Claire Abernathy, assistant professor of theatre, will serve as costume designer. Marie Bonds, a senior theatre major from Jonesboro, will serve as hair/makeup designer. Jeremy Smith, a junior theatre major from Dumas, will serve as prop master. Props carpenter will be Steffanie Smith, a freshman theatre major from Sherwood.
Sarah Ring, a senior theatre major from Cabot, will serve as wardrobe head. Light board operator will be Reagan Procter, a freshman theatre major from Jonesboro. Sound board operator will be Luke Guntharp, a junior theatre major from Jonesboro. Alyssa Burleson, a freshman theatre major from North Little Rock, and Justin Almager, a sophomore theatre major from El Dorado, are serving as the wardrobe crew and Tyler Gillespie, a sophomore theatre major from Dumas, will serve as the backstage crew. Davis Polston, a freshman theatre major from Searcy, and Renisha Parker, a freshman art major from Van Buren, will serve as assistant stage managers. Stage management duties for the production have been assigned to Virginia Hirsch, a junior theatre major from Cabot.
Tickets may be purchased for reserved seating in advance at the A-State Central Box Office in the Convocation Center or by calling 972-ASU1. Tickets are also available online at tickets.astate.edu. Reserved seating tickets (if available) may be purchased at the door on the evening of the performance. Ticket prices are $10 ($8 in advance). Advanced reservations are highly recommended.
Children under six years old are not admitted. Guests are asked to arrive early; latecomers will not be seated until intermission.
