Welcome Week Gets Underway Saturday with Move-In and Party with the Pack
JONESBORO — Students are anticipating new and renewed friendships during Arkansas State University's annual Welcome Week activities, which gets underway Saturday. Special activities continue through Friday, Aug. 27.
Now set for Monday, Aug. 23, “Red Wolf Welcome” is new to the Welcome Week schedule. This is designed to help better acquaint first-year students with fellow students, faculty, and campus life. From 1 until 3 p.m., each academic college will host an open house and students will participate in a scavenger hunt for prizes. Classes will begin the following day, Tuesday, Aug. 24.
The Student Activities Board has arranged several Welcome Week events for new and returning students to enjoy as they start another semester, and the Honors College Association also has scheduled several activities.
Here's the schedule of Welcome Week activities:
Saturday, Aug. 21: Operation move-in: residence halls open at 9 a.m.; Student Union service offices are open from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.; sorority bid day starts at 9:30 a.m., Centennial Bank Stadium; Party with the Pack, 5-8 p.m., Student Union Heritage Plaza lawn; and late-night shopping with Textbook Brokers, 10 p.m.-midnight, Textbook Brokers, 2106 E. Johnson Ave.
Sunday, Aug. 22: Welcome Back Beach Bash: 5-8 p.m., Student Union Heritage Plaza Lawn.
Monday, Aug. 23: Red Wolf Welcome, 1-3 p.m., campus wide scavenger hunt; comedy club: 6:30-9 p.m., Heritage Plaza Lawn, Student Union.
Tuesday, Aug. 24: Donuts and juice with the dean of students: 9-11 a.m., Student Union first floor; silent disco: 8-11 p.m., Student Union Centennial Hall.
Wednesday, Aug. 25: Community and Organization Fair, 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Student Union Heritage Plaza lawn.
Thursday, Aug. 26: Downtown block party: 7-11 p.m., Downtown Jonesboro.
Friday, Aug. 27: Pack Palooza, 4-8 p.m., Student Union Heritage Plaza lawn.
Also, the Honors College Association has planned an ice cream social at 6 p.m. Sunday; kickball at 4 p.m. Monday; wingo bingo at 6 p.m. Tuesday; color war at 5 p.m. Thursday; and grilling on the grass at 5 p.m. Friday. Kickball is at the intramural fields, while the other events are at the Honors Living-Learning Community Courtyard.
