Winners Announced: 38th Annual Regional Math Contest

JONESBORO – Arkansas State University's Mathematics and Statistics Department along with the Arkansas Council of Teachers of Mathematics hosted the 38th annual Northeast Arkansas Regional Math Contest on March 5.
Fourteen schools throughout the region were represented by 210 students. Students enrolled in any one of the following courses, algebra I, geometry, algebra II, trigonometry/pre-calculus, calculus, or statistics competed.
Those who placed first, second or third will be invited to participate in the State Math Contest on April 23 in Conway. Honorable mentions went to students that lost a tie breaker question for first, second or third.
The regional winners were:
Statistics
- First Place: Lucas Ho – Nettleton High School
- Second Place: Samuel Whitmire – Nettleton High School
- Third Place: Kalysha Chandler – Nettleton High School
Calculus
- First Place: Nathan Baggett – Brookland High School
- Second Place: Gavin Gunn – Walnut Ridge High School
- Third Place: Trevor Hill – Nettleton High School
Pre-Calculus
- First Place: Olivia Langner – Brookland High School
- Second Place: Kennedy Capps – Jonesboro High School
- Third Place: Baily Hoots – Rector High School
Algebra II
- First Place: Trevor Paulsen – Harrisburg High School
- Second Place: Paris Rich – Jonesboro High School
