Women’s Business Leadership Conference Set for March 30
JONESBORO – Women in the professional arena and female students will have an opportunity to participate in interactive discussions and workshops as well as exchange ideas at the third annual Women’s Business Leadership Conference hosted by Arkansas State University’s College of Business and the Women’s Business Leadership Center, Thursday, March 30.
A key element to the conference is it is the first conference following the founding of the Women’s Business Leadership Center on the A-State campus and is a celebration of the center’s opening. The center, the only one of its type in the state of Arkansas and the Delta region, officially opened in November.
“The Arkansas State University College of Business is thrilled to host this energizing opportunity for both female students and professional women in business roles to connect and thrive,” stated Dr. Shane Hunt, dean of the College of Business.
The opening and closing sessions are in Centennial Hall on the third floor of the Carl R. Reng Student Union, 101 North Caraway Road. It is free and lunch is provided. Check-in is 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Centennial Hall entrance. All other workshops and sessions will be in breakout rooms on the third floor of the Student Union. Engaging workshops and lunch and learn sessions will be offered from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The morning keynote speakers and scholarship awards will be 9:30-10:45 a.m. and afternoon keynote speakers, panel and closing will be 2-3:30 p.m.
The Women's Business Leadership Conference is a forum for leadership and professional development created to inspire and motivate women in the business community. This one-day conference features addresses by women leaders, workshops designed to hone skills in key areas, and interactive discussions to involve students and professionals on important issues.
“This conference is intended to cultivate and enrich the academic experience of our students, enhance career and mentorship networks for women, and celebrate the remarkable strengths women bring to corporate America,” added Hunt. “We bring together motivated students, alumni, successful corporate businesswomen and thriving entrepreneurs from all over the country to connect, discuss and learn more about issues facing women.”
The conference features addresses by Fawn Lopez, publisher and vice-president of Modern Healthcare and Founder’s Circle; Nancy Everitt, president and CEO of HEOPS, Inc.; and Cindy Boyle, partner at BKD, LLP. Workshops will include topics such as “Interview Prep 101,” “Energy: The One Thing that Changes Everything in Leadership, Negotiation,” and many others.
