Biography

Dr. Luis Nopo is the Director of Research Administration at the Arkansas Biosciences Institute (ABI) of Arkansas State University (A-State). He is committed to advancing research in human health, environmental science, and engineering by providing strategic leadership and managing resources effectively. A key aspect of his role involves fostering a collaborative culture among faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders, which creates an environment conducive to research and innovation. He also manages ABI’s core facilities, which include resources for cell biology, molecular biology, microscopy, histology, mass spectrometry, cell culture (animal, human, and plant), and flow cytometry, supporting cost-effective research in life sciences and engineering.

His research experience spans biochemistry, cell biology related to human pathologies, and plant biotechnology. Additionally, he has supported the pharmaceutical industry in gene and cell therapy manufacturing, ensuring compliance with cGMP standards and regulatory requirements in the USA (Code of Federal Regulations, Title 21) and Europe. Dr. Nopo has also contributed to academic instruction as an adjunct faculty professor at A-State’s Neil Griffin College of Business, teaching management and leadership courses.
