Biography
Dr. Akbari joined the faculty of ASU in the fall of 2014. A Texas native, Dr. Akbari has over 30 years of clinical experience working mainly with the pediatric population in the school setting. In addition to her school-based SLP experience, she has served as a Clinical Supervisor, Case Manager, and an Assistive Technology Specialist. Dr. Akbari became affiliated with iCAN of Arkansas and has an AAC loaner program for parents and SLPs located in Arkansas. Dr. Akbari has also been associated with El Centro Hispano for several years. Students from her classes tutor children in the After-School Program which allows the children to get the needed one-on-one assistance with literacy skills and in turn allows the college students the opportunity to learn about second language learners. In her free time, Dr. Akbari loves being on her farm and taking care of her garden, goats, chickens, and bees!
