Biography
Autobiography
I am a professor of art education at Arkansas State University where I have been teaching art education, visual art education and numerous Special Topics courses since 2013. I received my undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of North Texas. My research interests are in lifelong learning and intergenerational relationships fostered through visual art engagement.
I have written numerous articles detailing how my university students have been involved in service-learning opportunities that provided art making experiences with older adults, community members and elementary aged children. I have also had the opportunity to give workshops, professional development and various presentations for the Arkansas Art Educators, the National Art Education Association (NAEA) and Generations United.
I am actively involved in the Lifelong Learning Interest group of NAEA and served three years as the senior editor of the International Journal of Lifelong Learning in Art Education. I enjoy service and teaching through church and our Jonesboro community and I look for opportunities to share how art can be used as a catalyst for bringing people together.
