Research Interests
- Current research interests center on regional identity, history, and memory in the Northern Mexican states of Durango and Chihuahua. This work focuses on literature from the Porfiriato through the present, as well as contemporary cultural manifestations and performances of regional identity in the context of globalization.
- Dr. McGee is also interested in exploring if/how these regional subjectivities are expressed in border cultures, contemporary Mexican American literature and popular movements.
Biography
Dr. Anne Marie McGee earned her PhD in Spanish from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2008. Before coming to A-State, Jonesboro, she taught courses in Latin American Literature & Culture as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Michigan and as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Indiana University, Bloomington. Originally from Michigan, Dr. McGee grew up near the shores of Lake Michigan. In her free time Dr. McGee enjoys running and horseback riding.
