Biography

Dr. Ronald Sitton started as a visiting professor at Arkansas State University, and has moved from instructor to assistant professor of multimedia journalism, where he assists with the award-winning Delta Digital News Service that he built in Fall 2016. He started his second tour as the director of the Arkansas College Media Association in 2022, a decade after previously serving in that capacity.

A native Arkansawyer, Sitton earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and his doctorate from the University of Tennessee, where he began his research into cross-cultural framing of media issues. He formerly advised campus news publications at Muskingum University and the University of Arkansas at Monticello, where he also advised the Journalism Club and Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

Sitton previously worked as managing editor for The Southerner, a magazine online; as Capitol correspondent for the Benton County Daily Record; as reporter, copy editor and circulation manager for The Trucker, a national biweekly; and as City Hall reporter for The Times of North Little Rock. He also previously served as a Board member for the Arkansas Pro chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and as state representative for the American Democracy Project's Southern Consortium.

Sitton currently serves as president-elect of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Jonesboro. He and wife Kimberly (Justus) Sitton are raising a son. When not in the classroom or on campus, he spends his free time watching high school sports, collecting vinyl or recording Gospel and original – mostly blues – music.
