Biography
I’m originally from Kansas City (Johnson Co., KS) where I finished High School. I relocated to Spearfish, SD and attended Black Hills State University where I completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and gained field experience working as a technician on a variety of projects in the Black Hills National Forest, Theodore Roosevelt and Glacier National Parks and other regional public lands. My undergraduate experience culminated with 2 months of field work on the Antiguan Racer Conservation Project in Antigua and Barbuda, West Indies. I relocated to Jonesboro, AR to pursue an Master of Science in Biology at Arkansas State University focusing on a natural history aspect of the western slimy salamander in Garland Co., AR. My thesis involved the development of genetic (DNA) markers for this species with application to other closely related species from the Ouachita Mountains in western Arkansas. During this time I also worked on plant-based protein production for a biotechnology company housed on campus at Arkansas State University, Jonesboro. Since completing the MS, I have been working as a full-time adjunct instructor of Biology at the Jonesboro and Paragould campuses of Arkansas State University.
