Biography
Lori joined the nursing faculty as Assistant Professor of Nursing in 2006. Her initial 9-month appointment included teaching pediatric theory and clinical. August 2009, she moved to a 12-month faculty position and served as Clinical Learning Center Coordinator. In this role she helped to incorporate simulation into the curriculum in addition to didactic course work. From 2017-2021 she served as the Accelerated BSN Program Option Coordinator. She has recently began teaching in the AASN program in the traditional and online courses.
Her passions in nursing education include study and test taking skills, NCLEX success, student retention and remediation, and simulation. She has been a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) since 2015. Current teaching responsibilities include foundations of nursing, medical surgical nursing, health assessment, high acuity nursing, and NCLEX preparation.
Prior to working at Arkansas State University, Lori served as Health Services Coordinator in the Douglas County School system in Douglasville, GA setting up health services for chronically ill children for 3 years, taught nursing at Mississippi County Community College (now Arkansas Northeastern College) for 11 years, and spent many years in clinical practice in cardiac, critical care, emergency and public health nursing.
