Biography
I initially obtained my Bachelors of Arts in Chemistry in 2010 from Arkansas State University. After graduating with my BSN from Arkansas State University’s Accelerated BSN program in 2012, I began my nursing career in critical care, primarily taking care of cardiac patients. During this time, I would help on the stepdown units as well as cardiac floor if needed and to better understand what other areas of the hospital were like. I always enjoyed training new nurses as well as educating student nurses. Education has always been important to me, and I decided to further my education and began my Masters program in 2015, shortly after having my amazing son, Dexter, in Decemeber 2014. I graduated with my MNSc in Acute Care Adult Gerontology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2018, and I passed my boards to become a board certified in this area shortly after in 2019. I left the critical care setting in 2019 and worked initially in the hospitalist department but then finally found my passion for home hospice as an APRN. During this time, I began clinical adjunct work with Arkansas State University (2020), which lead me to my now full-time position as a Asst. Professor of Nursing.
